Forture: The Force of the Future - EU Environment LIFE Programme
LIFE16 ENV/IT/000307
Summary
LIFE: Force of the Future (FORTURE) is a project that began in October 2017, aimed at developing a sustainable manufacturing model for the production of ceramic tiles, with the support of the EU LIFE Programme.
Background
Although technological development and the introduction of new technologies have contributed to reducing the environmental impacts of the ceramic sector, the environmental variable has not yet been fully incorporated into production processes.
Specific objectives
LIFE: Force of the Future aims to solve the criticality due to the static nature of impact assessments based on historical series and which prevent corrective actions on products and processes, and to facilitate the collection of data for calculation.
Main actions
LIFE: Force of the Future proposes to achieve the project objectives by combining the results of ten specific actions which will develop over time according to the programme shown in a gantt.
Expected results
LIFE: Force of the Future proposes to reach some tangible and quantifiable outcomes after its implementation. Find out more!

The aim of this action is to plan and organise the activities necessary to achieve the project objectives and to prepare all technical, financial and administrative documentation.
This action represents the starting point of the project and it consists to develop a new approach to the production of ceramics tiles, based on the criteria of sustainability.
The development program of this action provides the scale transition from laboratory tests to the preindustrialization of the output of the previous actions.
This action aims to integrate the environment dimension, developed in action B1, in the dynamic instrument for the impact assessment, with socio-economic variables.
The main objective of the dissemination activity is to spread awareness about the results obtained through the project, as well as enhancing consciousness towards environmental issues.
The environmental and socio-economic impact on territory and stakeholders involved during the project will be monitored and evaluated and the effect of the actions will be assessed.
