On September 5, 2019, the LIFE FORTURE team met with Nicola Fabbri, representative of the LIFE EFFIGE project, to discuss possible synergies between the two LIFE initiatives.
Coordinated by the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, LIFE EFFIGE focuses on measuring the environmental footprint of products and services throughout their life cycle through the Product Environmental Footprint methodology. The project applies this approach to four production sectors: foundries, wood-furniture, food processing and catering.
The meeting offered an opportunity to compare the objectives and results of the two projects. While LIFE EFFIGE works on environmental footprinting across different sectors, LIFE FORTURE focuses on the dynamic assessment of sustainability in ceramic manufacturing, integrating environmental, economic and social dimensions.
This exchange highlighted several possible areas of cooperation, particularly around life cycle-based assessment tools, data collection and the use of sustainability metrics to support more informed industrial decisions.
The teams agreed to organise a further meeting to begin defining a cooperation plan and explore concrete networking activities.
The meeting was attended by Davide Settembre Blundo and Anna Maria Ferrari.
